RemShutdown is a very useful tool ideal for network administrators, which allows you to shutdown the computers available on your network simultaneously. The program gives you the option to set a shutdown delay and send a shutdown message to alert the hosts before shutting down, reboot the system after shutdown, and force the opened applications on the remote computer to close automatically.
The program is indeed very easy to use; it requires a valid user name, password, IP address or hostname, and administration privileges of the computers you would like to shutdown remotely.
The program gives you the option to select the hosts to shut down by specifying the range of the IP addresses, or by retrieving IP addresses from a txt file. You can also save the IP address added to the list to a txt file for using it later.
After the Shutdown function is activated, you will be informed on any event over each host, e.g. if a host cannot be reached or accessed, and you will be also able to abort the shutdown.
One disadvantage I found is that if a range of IP addresses selected is too big, the program may not respond. Another is that you cannot shutdown a specific host from the list. If you want to do this, you have to delete the rest of IP addresses from the list.
